First Aid Training Overview

First Aid provides limited care for an illness or injury, until more trained personel arrive, or the illness or injury is appropriately dealt with. First Aid generally consists of series of simple techniques, that an individual is trained to perform with minimal equipment.

Learning First Aid saves lives. First Aiders are taught to treat as well as prevent injuries from getting worse, and First Aiders promote a healthy recovery through proper treatment options.

The most important skills taught involve the "ABC"s which stands for Airway, Breathing, and Circulation. Some organizations add a fourth step of "D" for Deadly bleeding or Defibrillation, while others consider this as part of the Circulation step. Variations on techniques to evaluate and maintain the ABCs depend on the skill level of the first aider.

Once the ABCs are secured, first aiders can begin additional treatments, as required, some including the the "3B"s: Breathing, Bleeding, and Bones (or "4Bs": Breathing, Bleeding, Brain, and Bones).

SAJE Vital Signs teaches various different First Aid Courses depending on the need of the participants. Below is merely a small list of the courses taught:
